First Signing

Here's a couple of shots from Saturday's booksigning. Folks were there waiting when I showed up fifteen minutes early! It was like that all day. Many were friends and neighbors who came to wish me well, but others were strangers and browsers who spent the dreary afternoon in the warmth and coziness of Barnes & Noble. Dan, the manager, said it was the best new author signing they have ever had, and they want me to come back in April.

I know that they won't all be this way, but it sure was a nice way to start.

Great job. You look like such a pro. Did you have any down-time or did it go quick? Also, it looked like your books were there when you arrived.

One of my collegues had a signing and people were lined up to see him but none of the books had arrived! His wife rushed home and grabbed as many author's copies as she could find. That just about covered the number who were there to purchase books.

Anyway, you go, girl!

It went quickly, but it was only two hours. I actually stayed a third hour because people kept coming up and chatting-- I was right by the cafe and the front door so they came up whether they wanted to or not!
The store had books and they set up a beautiful display of them for the week before.
I was concerned earlier in the week that we wouldn't have enough, but we had exactly enough-- thirty.
I had a few authors' copies with me in case of an emergency, and we might have gone into those and even sold a few more, maybe even ten more, but only because a few friends asked that I hold books (and I wasn't as pushy as I could be with the cafe clientelle!)
We opted to leave three books at the store until the reorder comes in.They say that they often have a few people who buy in the week after a signing so we wanted them to at least have a couple left.

Congrats. That's terrific. I don't think I've ever had a signing go that well. (Since you're in the area, you should contact the Clarkston Rotary Club to give a talk. They're book readers).

Friends and relatives kind of stacked the deck for me.
Good idea!

But I like it at the computer-- in sweats and big sweater, hair in ponytail, candle lit, feet on footstool, Sirius on headphones, hot tea on warmer.
Ahh.
Back to the revision.
